Is ARKS Alert free?

Of course! This is a project that I’ve wanted to undertake for a long while as there haven’t been any applications available for iOS users before this, and I wanted to throw my best effort forward and make it available to everyone.

Besides, I want to respect the original content creators’ wishes and try to make this as straightforward as possible. If you want to support someone, please support PSO2 by purchasing premium or some scratch tickets!

Why is ARKS Alert rated 17+?

For a few reasons:

  • App Store guidelines.
  • The game is rated M by the ESRB in North America.

If you’re unable to download the app due to this restriction and you are 17+, please check your device settings or account information to learn more.

Why does ARKS Alert require iOS 14 or later?

In an attempt to help maintain the codebase for the long term, ARKS Alert was built using purely native SwiftUI functions that were exclusive to iOS 14 and later. Because of this, the app has this requirement. Please accept my sincere apologies if your device is unsupported.

Is a MacOS app available?

Yes, for any Mac running macOS 11.0 or later.

Why do some events not get reported?

The data feed for in-game events relies on user reports in the Phantasy Star Fleet Discord. (https://discord.gg/pso2) Sometimes an announcer isn’t around or the event isn’t reported in time to get an alert out. We’re all human and it may not always be possible to report every event.

What should I do if I’m not getting alerts consistently?

The current system for pushing alerts is by use of ‘silent push notifications.’ These aren’t 100% reliable, but generally work fine for this application.

What this means is that as long as you have a good internet connection, your battery is above 20%, and you’ve opened the app at least once, you should be good to go.

Alerts tend to be discarded if your phone is set to do not disturb (driving, sleeping, or general use), or if your battery is on battery saver mode. Alerts will also not be pushed to your device if the app’s “quiet hours” are enabled and they’re in effect.

I hope to implement a better system in the near future to ensure push notifications are more reliable.

What should I do if I’ve found a bug?

Please let me know! Submit some feedback and I’ll take a look as soon as possible. Please provide any replication steps and any other information you can provide about the incident, including any screenshots (feel free to use an image hosting service for uploading).

If something else seems buggy, but you’re not sure it’s from the app, please reboot your phone, force kill and reopen the app, and see if that solves the issue. I’d still appreciate you letting me know if something does come up, even if it may be related to a system bug.
